<image:title>Sacroiliac Joint Pain - Our experts can assess and treat Sacro-iliac Joint and Pelvis pain.</image:title>
<image:caption>The sacro-iliac joint is located in the pelvis, connecting the sacrum to the iliac bones of the pelvis. When this joint becomes inflamed or painful, it can cause significant discomfort and mobility issues. There are many potential causes of sacro-iliac joint pain, including: Trauma: Trauma to the sacro-iliac joint, such as a fall or a car accident, can cause the joint to become inflamed and painful. Arthritis: Arthritis is a common cause of sacro-iliac joint pain. As the joint wears down over time, it can become inflamed and painful. Pregnancy: Pregnancy can put a significant amount of strain on the sacro-iliac joint, leading to inflammation and pain. Overuse: Overuse of the sacro-iliac joint, such as through repetitive motions or activities, can lead to inflammation and pain. Muscle imbalances: Muscle imbalances in the pelvis and lower back can cause the sacro-iliac joint to become misaligned, leading to inflammation and pain. Poor posture: Poor posture can put additional strain on the sacro-iliac joint, leading to inflammation and pain over time. Leg length discrepancy: A difference in leg length can cause the pelvis to become misaligned, leading to inflammation and pain in the sacro-iliac joint. Fortunately, physiotherapy using muscle energy techniques can help alleviate the pain and improve your quality of life. Muscle energy techniques are a form of manual therapy that use the patient's own muscles to facilitate a stretch or mobilization of the affected joint. These techniques are safe, effective, and non-invasive, making them an ideal treatment for sacro-iliac joint pain. At Physio on Bayside, we specialize in muscle energy techniques for the treatment of sacro-iliac joint pain. Our physiotherapists will use a variety of muscle energy techniques, including: Isometric contractions: Isometric contractions involve contracting a muscle without moving the joint. Our physiotherapists will use isometric contractions to strengthen the muscles surrounding the sacro-iliac joint and improve stability. Reciprocal inhibition: Reciprocal inhibition involves contracting one muscle while stretching the opposing muscle. Our physiotherapists will use reciprocal inhibition to improve joint mobility and reduce pain. Muscle energy stretching: Muscle energy stretching involves contracting a muscle and then stretching it further than the patient can on their own. Our physiotherapists will use muscle energy stretching to improve joint mobility and reduce pain. Exercise therapy is also an essential part of physiotherapy treatment for sacro-iliac joint pain. Our physiotherapists will develop a customized exercise program designed to strengthen the muscles surrounding the sacro-iliac joint and improve your range of motion. Poor posture and ergonomics can also contribute to sacro-iliac joint pain. Our physiotherapists will assess your posture and provide advice on ergonomics to reduce your risk of developing sacro-iliac joint pain. Sacro-iliac joint pain can significantly impact your quality of life, but you don't have to suffer. Contact us today to schedule an appointment with one of our physiotherapists and walk out feeling better.</image:caption>

<image:title>Vertigo - Vertigo, or the sensation of spinning, can be an unsettling and debilitating condition that affects many people.</image:title>
<image:caption>Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is the most common type of vertigo and can occur when small calcium crystals in the inner ear become dislodged and move into the wrong part of the ear canal. This can cause dizziness and can be triggered by specific head movements. Causes of Vertigo/BPPV: There are several causes of vertigo/BPPV, including: Inner ear problems: The inner ear is responsible for maintaining balance and equilibrium, so any issues with the inner ear can lead to vertigo. Head injury: Trauma to the head can cause damage to the inner ear, which can lead to vertigo. Migraines: People who suffer from migraines may experience vertigo as a symptom. Medications: Certain medications, such as antibiotics and antidepressants, can cause vertigo as a side effect. Treatment for Vertigo/BPPV: The good news is that vertigo/BPPV can be treated successfully with physiotherapy. The most common treatment for vertigo/BPPV is the Epley Manoeuvre, a specific set of head movements that help to move the calcium crystals back into the correct position in the inner ear. This is a simple and effective treatment that can be performed by our physiotherapists at Physio on Bayside. In addition to the Epley Manoeuvre, physiotherapy can also involve other exercises to help improve balance and reduce the risk of falls. These exercises may include: Gaze stabilization exercises: These exercises help to improve the ability to maintain focus on a specific object while moving the head. Balance exercises: These exercises help to improve balance and reduce the risk of falls. Strengthening exercises: These exercises help to strengthen the muscles used for balance and can improve overall physical function. If you are experiencing vertigo/BPPV, contact us for an appointment with our experienced Physiotherapists and walk out feeling better.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sports Rehabilitation - Minimise your risk of injury or prevent recurring injury with sports rehabilitation</image:title>
<image:caption>Playing a sport is a very demanding part of life. No matter what sport, it can place a lot of strain on the body, and there is always a risk of injury. Ensuring your body is in optimal shape for playing your specific sport is very important for minimising that risk or helping prevent an injury from occurring again. There are several aspects to ‘’optimal shape’’ including strength, power, endurance, flexibility, proprioception and agility. These all vary depending on which sport you place and finding the perfect balance can be very challenging, but it is something your physiotherapist can advise on. Our physiotherapists have a strong background in treating sports-related injuries. We are proud of our association with local sporting clubs. If you would like help recovering from an injury, a consultation with one of our physiotherapists is a very important step in the process.</image:caption>

<image:title>Balance - Balance is an essential part of our life, and it is not often something we think about until it starts to decline.</image:title>
<image:caption>Good balance allows us to participate in sports, ride a bike, go for a walk or even get in and out of bed or a chair with ease. When we re-train our balance, we improve our proprioception and muscle strength. Proprioception is our sense of balance. It means we can feel where our body and limbs are in space and allows us to make immediate, minute changes to maintain our balance. When we are injured, or as we get older, our proprioception becomes impaired. But by practising balance exercises, we can improve our proprioception and thus reduce the risk of injury or falls. It also means that the muscles which stabilise our pelvis and core are strong as well. This means we are less likely to suffer from back, neck or hip pain.</image:caption>

<image:title>Dry Needling - Relieve myofascial pain with dry needling.</image:title>
<image:caption>Dry Needling is an effective technique using fine needles to help relieve myofascial pain. The needles release muscle trigger points, increase blood flow to promote healing and provide pain relief via endorphin release. Dry needling uses the same needles as in acupuncture; however, it takes a Western neurophysiological approach rather than the traditional Eastern Medicine approach, which uses meridian lines and Qi. Our physiotherapists Danny Gardner, Sarah Medcalf, Jessica Kuczynski, Laura O’Donoghue, Kieran Wallwork, Brett Hawker and Tess Davies are trained in dry needling and use this treatment technique extensively throughout their practice with fantastic results. If you would like to learn more information or discuss if dry needling would benefit you, please contact our clinic today.</image:caption>

<image:title>Vestibular - Restore balance, reduce dizziness and regain confidence in movement.</image:title>
<image:caption>At Physio on Bayside, our vestibular physiotherapy service helps patients manage dizziness, vertigo, balance disorders, and other vestibular conditions. Whether you are recovering from a concussion, woke up with BPPV, managing vestibular migraine, or experiencing persistent imbalance, we provide evidence-based care tailored to your needs. WHAT IS VESTIBULAR PHYSIOTHERAPY? Vestibular physiotherapy focuses on the assessment and rehabilitation of the inner ear, brain, and sensory systems that control balance and spatial orientation. Problems in these systems can cause dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and nausea. Vestibular physiotherapy aims to restore function, reduce symptoms, and improve quality of life. Who can benefit? Vertigo and dizziness can have many different causes, and while Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is the most common, it’s not the only vestibular condition that affects balance and daily life. Vestibular physiotherapy may help individuals with: Persistent dizziness or vertigo Balance or gait difficulties Post-concussion symptoms Vestibular migraine - some people experience vertigo as part of migraine attacks Vestibular loss - reduction or absence of function in the vestibular system Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis – inflammation of the inner ear, leading to sudden and severe vertigo Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD) - a condition causing persistent dizziness and vertigo Concussion or head injury – trauma can impact the vestibular system and cause dizziness or imbalance Ménière’s disease – characterised by episodes of vertigo, hearing loss, and tinnitus Medication side effects – certain antibiotics, antidepressants, or other medications can affect balance and produce dizziness Post-surgical or post-injury vestibular dysfunction And More! Why choose us? Led by a physiotherapist with advanced vestibular training Holistic, patient-centred care integrating manual therapy, exercise, and education Proven strategies to reduce dizziness, restore balance, and improve quality of life Support for both acute and chronic vestibular conditions Take the Next Step If you’re experiencing dizziness, vertigo or imbalance effective treatment is available and our team is here to help. Contact us today to book your vestibular physiotherapy appointment and take the next step towards feeling your best.</image:caption>
